Drillers Service Inc. Drillers Service Inc.

Drillers Service, Inc. was founded in 1954 by H. Jack Faw, Sr. Jack was the son of Rueben E. Faw, a long time water well driller and pump installer in the Hickory area. Jack worked in his father’s business until his father retired. At that time, he decided to take his knowledge of drilling wells and installing pumps to a different level. The experience he gained from working with his father gave him just what he needed to incorporate a successful distribution business in the water well industry. He called his new business venture Drillers Service, Inc. and opened for business in May, 1954 with five employees.

In 1967, Jack's son, Jack, Jr. convinced his father to “test the waters” again by opening his first branch location in Charlottesville, VA. Within a year his decision to expand had proven to be profitable so in 1968 branches were opened in Greensboro, NC and Marietta, GA (which has since relocated to Ashburn, GA). DSI has since those early years continued to expand. We now have branch locations in Hickory, NC; Greensboro, NC; Selma, NC; Wilmington, NC; West Columbia, SC; Ashburn, GA; Albany, GA; Griffin, GA; Ellijay, GA; Ocala, FL; Lakeland, FL; Crestview, FL; Knoxville, TN; Christiana, TN; Charlottesville, VA; Roanoke, VA; Portsmouth, VA; Millersville, MD; Newville, PA; Yorkville, IL and Whitestown, IL along with our corporate offices in Hickory, NC. Just recently in 2015, DSI partnered with another distributor from the western United states to create the company 2MDSI which also has locations in Green Bay, WI; Watertown, WI, Menomonie, WI and St. Cloud, MN.

Expansion at DSI has taken place not only geographically in the over fifty years we’ve been in business. While we began as a distributor of water drilling equipment and well supplies, today we also service the environmental, industrial/commercial and wastewater industries. Those original five employees have since grown to some two hundred employees. But that’s not where DSI plans to stop. We continue to seek areas where we can diversify that will benefit all the water and fluid handling industries.

Another area we’ve witnessed expansion in at DSI is in our leadership. In August, 1986 several members of our management team took ownership of the company and today we’re led by Richard Redden, Chairman of the Board; Jim Inman, President; Kevin Hancock, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing and Branch Managers Roy Lawson, Jason Garcia, Dave Willett, Kip Fowler, Marty Rouse, Aaron Brown, Brian McDaniel, Brad Inman, Chris Bradberry, Ian Foster, Mark Shell, Ron Beaver, Brian Schramm, Randy Schmid, Mike Callaway and Mark Husnik. Under today’s leadership, we’ve seen the company's yearly gross sales grow from the $192,420.00 Mr. Faw realized his first year in business to the over $100M we do today.

Things have changed a lot since May of 1954. However, the leaders and employees of DSI today still have the same goal they had then. That goal is to provide our customers with products and services that are unrivaled by any others in our industry.
