JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Territory Sales Representative, you will promote and sell products and services, through good customer service and effective sales techniques. Responsible for implementing sales initiatives and strategies for an assigned group of customers or market category. Drives demand for company products and services by providing broad support to customers that include professional level assistance with purchases, information, and training on product offerings and functionality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Travels to customer location to present company products, services, and pricing information in a professional manner
• Submits appropriate paperwork to management such as expense reports and call reports in accordance with company requirements
• Maintains appropriate records for the development of sales forecasts, territory potential, workload analysis, call programs, and delivery/sales routes
• Collects and reports competitive information to management
• Attends training activities and trade shows to present information regarding company products and services
• Recommends the addition of new products and the modification/deletion of present products to the company’s offering, as appropriate
• Provides professional-level support on product information related to functionality, performance, and price
• Recommends products and services that effectively meet customer needs
• Provides accurate information for documenting customer orders
• Applies advanced-level product knowledge to assist customers
• Receives and resolves customer complaints and problems in a timely manner in cooperation with management
• Assists in the field training of any salesman as requested
• Maintains a neat and orderly work area
• Performs other related duties as needed
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to engage customers in conversations related to products and purchases, and the ability to develop business relationships with new customers
• Ability to influence through knowledge and expertise
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and can interpret bar graphs
• Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information
• Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex instructions, correspondence, and memos
• Ability to effectively present information and responds to questions in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• Acceptable MVR per Automobile Insurer guidelines; must be able to meet this requirement during annual insurance review
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in sales, irrigation and/or water well experience preferred
• Computer Skills
• Intermediate: Microsoft Office suite, Internet and ERP
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
• While performing the functions of this job, the employee is:
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and to talk and hear
• Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and to reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to climb or balance
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
